Aim/Scope/Research Area The VLDB Journal is a quarterly journal published on behalf of the VLDB Endowment. The journal is dedicated to the publication of scholarly contributions to the advancement of information system architectures, the impact of technological advancements on information systems, and the development of novel database applications. The journal was launched in July 1992.
The VLDB Journal publishes a number of special issues in addition to the regular ones. One issue of each volume (usually the third) is devoted to selected papers from the previous year's VLDB Conference. Other special issues are scheduled to focus on issues that the Editors and the Editorial Board determine to be of importance to the database community:

Integration of databases and information retrieval
Data Management, Analysis and Mining for the Life Sciences
Data Stream Processing
XML Data Management
E-Services
Databases and the Web
Multimedia Databases
Persistent Object Systems
The Journal is managed by the Editors-in-Chief, assisted by an Editorial Board. The production of accepted papers is managed by the Publication Coordinator. Springer-Verlag publishes the journal on behalf of the VLDB Endowment. They have set up a home page for the Journal, which provides submission and other information.
