Aim/Scope/Research Area Aims And Scope
The IEEE Sensors Journal is a peer-reviewed, monthly online, bimonthly print journal devoted to sensors and sensing phenomena. It is published by the IEEE Sensors Council, which consists of 23 IEEE Technical Societies with a combined membership of over 260,000. The Journal uses a web-based peer-review system that enables the entire review process to take place online. Authors can upload and then check the status of their manuscripts online - for further information, see www.ieee.org/sensors/sj. The editorial board consists of more than 50 internationally recognized experts, with a majority of editors from outside the USA. Wide circulation is assured because ~1000 libraries and >2000 individuals, worldwide, subscribe to the Journal. The Journal published 400 pages in its first year, 2001. It has grown rapidly to its currently level of about 2,000 pages. The topics of interest include all types of sensing: mechanical, thermal, optical, magnetic, radiation, microwave, chemical, biological, mass, etc., both on the macro and micro levels. Also of interest are sensor packaging, interconnection, modeling, telemetry, CAD, stability (e.g., noise), characterization, sensor signal processing, sensor arrays (e.g., e-nose), sensor systems, intelligent sensors, sensor-actuators, and applications. The IEEE Sensors Journal is a Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) Partner, see www.arl.org/sparc/partner/index.htm. SPARC supports partners who introduce price and service competition into the publishing marketplace. The Journal was founded in part to create a high quality archival sensors publication whose subscription fees are within the reach of individual practitioners in the field. In our opinion, this goal has been achieved.
