About MOHERE
Communities are expected to provide basic needs, economic prosperity, and cultural well-being to citizens despite ever-increasing challenges due to population growth, aging, and resource scarcity. The Smart and Connected Communities (SCC) initiative aims to meet these challenges by developing smart and socially responsible technologies that improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability of community services across diverse and heterogeneous populations. The goal of this Research Collaboration Network (RCN) is to build a multi-disciplinary research community consisting of social, behavior, economic, and learning sciences, computer science, and engineering, in close coordination with local and municipal community stakeholders. This effort will focus on Mobility, Health and Well-Being, and Resilience of Interdependent Infrastructures as the main topics. Community stakeholders will provide data and serve as "living labs" for the RCN, facilitating development of socially responsible SCC solutions to problems affecting diverse communities. Research capacity will be built through a sequence of visioning workshops, as well as education and workforce development modules.
